Homelessness and Poverty: Getting Involved

Our group (Adrienne Wittenauer, Mary Lack, and myself) have started looking into Christian Care in Rock Island. This organization has two centers, one for domestic abuse of women and children and the other is a rescue mission for homeless men. Christian Care supplies meals, shelter, and other resources to these people that are involved.

We are planning on donating our time to get involved. We all think it would be a great opportunity to work with these people and just provide various things for them. Looking through the list of different objectives of volunteers, it is evident that we would have to narrow it down to a few to choose from. The ones that stick out to me are the following: providing childcare, prepare and serve a meal, answer phones, help with pick ups during food drives, and work on projects such as painting and spring cleaning. This is showing that we have a variety to choose from and it also shows that they need help in multiple areas.
